Austin High & Texas D1 Ambassador Eric McClellan To Tulsa

I spoke with Austin High & Texas D1 Ambassadors PG Eric McClellan this morning and he was excited to have given his commitment to Coach Doug Wojak and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.  McClellan had visited both Northeastern & Wichita State, returning from his WSU visit last night.  We exchanged texts last night and he told me that "Coach, I just can't see myself being here for 4 years".  My thoughts back were that "It's like a marriage. If it doesn't feel right early, then it's not likely to get better as time goes on".

McClellan was a hot commodity this spring, with several West Coast schools chasing him in April including Fresno State, where longtime Texas Assistant, Rodney Terry has gotten the Head Coaching position.  McClellan has yet to visit the Tulsa campus but attributed his choice to the great home visit he had with the Tulsa staff last week, which lasted more than 2 hours.  The Tulsa staff believe that paired with San Antonio Wagner G 6'5" Jordan Clarkson that they could potentially be the best backcourt in Conference USA.

At 6'4", McClellan has great court vision & is extremely bouncy.  His length makes him a tough defender, and he can also get to the rim with his long strides. McClellan can and will dunk on you in traffic despite his wiry frame.  His shooting is solid, but not spectacular, so he'll need to continue to work on that and put on weight as well. Congratulations to Austin High Coach Andy Dudney, Eric & His Family (mother Kim Woody)-Coach Max Ivany
