The story behind the games, is for me more enjoyable many times than the games themselves. Below, 2010 combo guard Jonathan Perry (middle) chats it up with Daniel Alexander (right) before a summer league game. Tonight the close, longtime friends who have shared more than a 100 victories together with the Texas D-1 Ambassadors will be rivals for 32 minutes. Sadly though, one of them will end thier storied high school career. These are two of the classiest kids and families to ever grace our program. Alexander has signed with Texas A&M and is an alum of the Vince Carter & LeBron James Nike Skills Academies. Perry, a two time All Region player and likely All Stater this year sorts through his D-1 options and will likely sign in April. Dripping Springs is 23-10, but are surging behind a healthy Alexander who suffered a cracked vertebrae in his lower back this past summer. The 6'9" wing has NBA range, great court vision and a bouncy step, playing well above the rim. The 6'4" Perry can play the one, two or three effectively. He can handle the ball, get to the rim and can shoot the three. This is a great matchup.
Tivy is 28-5 and frankly has a more well rounded supporting cast than Drip. However, it's high school basketball and anything can and may happen. Tivy will look to keep the game in the 50's, pounding the ballinside to 6'6" Tyler Kotson and 6'7" Taylor Finlay while Drip hopes to rain threes and hurt them from outside.
Prediction: Tivy by 4
