Texas D-1 Ambassadors Players @ Five Star Camp

With all the emphasis on the NCAA Live recruiting period, it's easy to forget where it all started back in the day.  Five Star, the standard for basketball camps was the focal point for all the country's best players and hopefuls.  This was before Facebook, Twitter, the internet etc brought info into our living rooms.  The kids were truly unknown commodities.  Guys like Michael Jordan and Mose Malone made their name at Five Star with the legendary Howard Garfinkel and Leigh Klein at their locations in New York and Pittsburgh.

Those days are gone, but Five Star remains the most respected teaching camp in the country.  A new generation has taken over, with "Garf & Mr. Klein retired, and my friend Leigh Klein Jr. now heads up his family's business. (He's a University of Texas alum, FYI.)  The Texas D-1 Ambassadors always support Five Star and this past week at Baylor was no different as D-1 Ambassadors Head Coach Darrel Cress had his son 2015 Damaris on hand, and he was joined by 4 other D-1 Ambassadors; 2013 Stefan Vidovic, 2013 Nic Melvin, 2013 Napoleon Oneyeji, and 2013 Darian Bostic.

2013 G Darian Bostic of Pflugerville (above left & below) continues his summer of rapid advancement as a basketball player.  Playing for his dad, Coach Reggie Bostic with the Texas D-1 Ambassadors 2013 he has shown a great work ethic and a steady improvement in his game and maturation as a point guard.  Bostic has worked hard to become a floor general and a "north-south ballhandler.  He earned All Star Honors playing in the storied "Orange-White Game" which culminates the camp activities at Five Star.

Bostic should start maturing physically this coming year.  The youngster has great bloodlines as the family (originally from Detroit, MI) has an uncle, Herb Bostic Jr. who played for Coach Jud Heathcote at Michigan State while Darian's aunt Rachelle Bostic was one of the all time greats and still hold records for the Indiana  Hoosiers.  Herb Jr. is also a Five Star alumnus!

Bostic is one of Coach Max's ones to watch!
