Great American Shootout-Quarter Final Bracket Play

GASO Bracket Play
Texas D-1 Hargis 56 Houston Hurricanes 45

An aggressive game decided under the boards, this one was controlled by D-1 Ambassadors 2011 P 6'5" David Weathers of Austin LBJ with 15 points, & 8 boards and 2011 P 6'7" Zac Chambers who added 11 points and made all the hustle plays that don't show up in the scoresheets.  2011 G LaDarrien Williams of Manor had 5 steals and as usual he shut down the opposition's most dangerous guard with his tenacious on ball D.

LaDarrien Williams of Manor & David Weathers (r) of Austin LBJ were an aggressive one-two combo for the D-1 Ambassadors.

Texas D-1 Hardge 84  Triumph 2011 Gold 57
This game was over at the opening tip as Texas D-1 used it's quickness to overwhelm the Triumph squad, harrassing their backcourt into countless turnovers.  Scoring was balanced as the Ambassadors were led by 2011 PG Josiah Monroe's 15 points and 4 steals.  Four other players had 12 points a piece; 2011 G Deon Mitchell of Pflugerville, 2011 W Allante Faust of Harker Heights, and 2011 WG Jonathan Perry who is headed to Fork Union Prep (VA) this fall.  Perry also added 8 rebounds.

Harker Heights W 6'4" Allante Faust boasts a smooth stroke.  He needs to assert himself more.  Oozes potential, and doesn't yet realize how good he could be.  2011 PG Josiah Monroe (r) plays with a chip on his shoulder.  He's the heartbeat of this team, keying runs with his tough D and then when he gets hot can string together 3 pointers like there's no tomorrow.

GASO QUARTER FINALS
Texas D-1 Ambassadors 58  Houston Hoopstars 56

Any time you line up to play my old friend, Keith White's Houston Hoopstars program you know you're in for a long day.  Several times during the game the Hoopstars crew had the D-1 Ambassadors on the ropes while holding 10 point leads.  Coach Hargis & Williams are building great team chemistry though and today these kids were not being denied.  The D-1 Ambassadors won it at the buzzer in a well played game.  LaDarrien Williams scored 19 in the win.

Kudos to the team as the boys spent several hours on Friday putting on a clinic at the Bryan Boys & Girls Club for about 100 excited youngsters.  They signed autographs for these young ballers and have come to realize that they are already ROLE MODELS in their community.  Great job, gentlemen.

2011 PG LaDarrien Williams of Manor scored 19 points to go along with his stellar defensive play.

Texas D-1 Ambassadors-Hardge 71  Austin Ice 55

The Texas D-1 Ambassadors cruised through their quarter final matchup against the Austin Ice, winning 71-55.  2011 WG Jonathan Perry of Fork Union Prep (VA) bullied inside and finessed out as he scored 17 points and 8 rebounds.  2011 W 6'5" Jalen Washington got to the rim when he wanted dropping 16 points and grabbing 11 boards.   2011 WG Dylan Cox of Cedar Park continued his winning ways as he continues to do it all.  He defends, shoots it well, and can get to the rim in dropping 13 points.

Ice P players 2011 Quincy Russell of San Antonio Sam Houston & 2011 Conner Robinson of Austin Bowie are quality players down low.

2011 W 6'5" Jalen Washington (L) of Pflugerville Hendrickson slashed to the rim at will and controlled the boards against beefier players.  2011 G Dylan Cox of Cedar Park cause real match up problems.  He can play from the one to the three, and defends like a demon.
