GASO-College Station-Sunday (Day 3)

Anytime you're playing on the last day of an event, it's a good thing. The Texas D1 Ambassadors-San Antonio edition is now 5-0, having disposed of Glendon Alexander's Gamepoint squad 60-50.  They are slated to play Houston Lynx at 12:45 today in the tournament semifinals. 2012 Connor Lammert had a double double, and 15 points.  As his game develops on a week by week basis, the young big shows not only productivity by numbers but also by intangible ways including his passing ability and his unselfishness.

Already hearing from a slew of schools, 16 year old Lammert sports outstanding academics.  At the moment, SMU and TCU are expressing interest amongst the higher academic schools.  I've discussed him with the folks at Texas Hoops and I believe it's time for the Vanderbilt and Stanford's of the hoops world to stand up and take a closer look at this kid.

Lammert had balanced support in this win as high energy guy, 2012 Jeffrey Rodewald of San Antonio Alamo Heights, a 6'6" swingman had 13, as did 2011 sharpshooter Cole Martinez (Air Force).  For Gamepoint, 2011 Barrington Stevens of Allen was lighting up the scoreboard.  D1's needing a late qualifier should check this youngster out.  It was also nice catching up with former McDonald's All American Glendon Alexander after the game.  Great to see him involved with the youth in the DFW area.  The former Arkansas/Oklahoma State star is the all time leading prep scorer in Texas schoolboy history with almost 4000 career points.

For the second straight GASO, the outcome was the same as D1 saved the Islanders the expense of another night on the road.  Combo guard, 2012 Uche Ofoegbu's athleticism (23 points) and 2012 PG Adam Perez' jet like speed in pushing the ball had this one winning, going away.
