Player Spotlight: 2012 P Connor Lammert of San Antonio Churchill (TX)

As I write this report, 16 year old Connor Lammert is literally walking across the football field at Coach Darrel K Royal-War Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in real time.   These are heady times for the youngster fom San Antonio Churchill.  After a very solid junior year at San Antonio Churchill where he played alongside older brother, Clark (Texas Tech) the younger Lammert is now beginning to blossom.  At 6'9", he displays poise, footwork, passing ability and a willingness to defend well beyond his years.  Throw in the fact that he's an excellent student as well and all options are on the table for him as he enters into the important July period.

Witness his performance last week with the Texas D1 Ambassadors-San Antonio as he led his squad to the Championship of the Great American Shootout.  In the final, he locked horns (no UT pun intended) with 2012 Cameron Ridley of the Houston Hoopstars, a 4 star recruit  who is already committed to Texas. I have all the respect in the world for Cameron's game (as does Connor).  They battled all game long with similar stat lines.

Check out the YouTube video below as Lammert shows he can defend in the post, block shots, absorb contact for the "And 1", hit the mid range shot, his passing ability (including a sweet no look behind the back dime to a streaking forward for a layup) and his three point range.  What a complete package!

Lammert is hearing from Texas, Vanderbilt, Northeaster, Nevada. SMU, Texas A&M, UTEP, Brown, Georgia Tech, Penn State, Utah, Tulsa, Colorado State, Lehigh, and a host of others with the list growing daily.

The Texas D1 Ambassadors-San Antonio July schedule is as follows:

July 9-12 GASO Duncanville Duncanville, TX
July 13-15 George McClellan Houston, TX
July 22-26 Las Vegas Live Las Vegas, NV
July 27-29 GBOA Challenge of Champions Los Angeles, CA
