San Antonio Reagan 54 San Antonio Johnson 50
Watching pregame, I'd have thought that this would be a runaway Regan win. Without 6'8" Anthony Johnson (Texas-Arlington) in the lineup because of a flu bug, Reagan figured to run wild. As it turns out, that wasn't the case. The Jaguars are well coached and without their go to guy on the floor the troops rallied. Using a 2-3 zone and minimizing penetration by Reagan's guards, Johnson led at the half 32-23. They used timely 3 point shooting by committee coupled with foul trouble to Reagan's star WG Max Yon (Air Force) to build their lead.

The second half was another matter. With the perimeter shooting going cold and increased ball pressure by Reagan, you could see the Rattlers chipping away and seizing control of the game back. Without Johnson's defensive presence inside Reagan began to penetrate to the goal unabated. Tre Demps (Northwestern) was particularly effective. Reagan led early in the game 7-6, and did not lead by more than one until with 2:00 left in the contest they went on a run and tightened up defensively to secure the win. Demps led all scorers with 15 points. Sophomore Mike Williams also did a nice job of getitng Yon's minutes and finished with 10 points including two timely three pointers.
