With the score tied at the end of the 3rd quarter on their home court, St. Michael's knew that their season could be on the line. Lose and have a first round matchup with Dallas Prestonwood Academy and Kansas signee Zach Peters or win and have a home playoff contest vs El Paso Cathedral.
Once again Jake Kocher (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) took the Crusaders on his back as he's done many times over the last two seasons. He finished with 28 points. The crafty SG has scored over 2700 points in his 3 seasons on varsity and will lead the City of Austin in scoring for the second straight year. (26.4 ppg) Jonathan Holmes (Texas) led the Apaches with 29 points in the loss.
Last year thanks to records kept by the San Antonio Express-News, we closely followed and celebrated San Antonio Lee's Paul Garnica (Northern Colorado) pursuit of the City of San Antonio's all time school boy scoring record. Unfortunately the Austin American Statesman doesn't seem to have any idea what the magic number is for the Austin Metro area. Could Kocher hold the record? In the last 15 years, there is only one player who comes to mind that might be in the neighborhood and that would be former Texas Longhorn & Round Rock McNeil Mav, A.J. Abrams. I'd love to hear factual feedback on this if anyone has insight.
Kocher (left) has been a prolific scorer for St. Michael's and will bring his salty game to the Gulf Coast of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi while Holmes (right) readies his game to head north to Austin & the Texas Longhorns.

Not sure what went on in this one as 2013 G Mike Williams had 14 points for the Rattlers, and by the look of the boxscore everybody else including the team manager played. Roosevelt may have had it's roster depleted (injuries, academics?) because they have talent.
San Antonio MacArthur 65 San Antonio Madison 53
2012 G Matt Gramling led the way with 22 points.
2012 G Matt Gramling continues to lead the Brahmas charge.
