Texas D-1 Ambassador Tre Nichols To Boise State

Former Texas D-1 Ambassador Tre Nichols of Killeen High will sign his LOI this coming Wednesday with the Boise State Broncos of the Western Athletic Conference.  Nichols, a 4 year starter for the Killeen Kangaroos originally signed with Texas State University in the Southland Conference.  After one semester in which he played in three games and averaged 7.0 points in only 12 minutes per game he decided that wasn't where he wanted to be, so he transferred to McClellan Community College.

Nichols also had scholarship offers from Santa Clara, Montana State, South Alabama, Prairie View A&M, Arkansas-Little Rock, Sam Houston State and UC Riverside.

Nichols put up solid numbers at MCC and felt extremely comfortable with his visit to Boise State last fall.  He signed with BSU even though they just went through a coaching change a couple of weeks ago.  Last week I spoke to BSU assistant, Jeff Linder who just joined the new staff (he recruited Cody Doolin while at San Francisco) and he asked me my thoughts on Tre.  " He's an athletic PG who can really score it and will shoot it in a heartbeat",  I told Linder.

I was excited to get the text yesterday from Tre's Pops, Freddie Nicholls who gave me the heads up that his boy was headed out West to Idaho.  Congratulations to the Nichols'.
