Left: 2009 6'10" John Henson. Gone, but not forgotten.
The theme at Round Rock HS this coming season, may be right in line with our Presidential Campaign. CHANGE. After Head Coach, former UCLA Bruin Curtis Knight was let go the Dragons went and hired Cody Blake away from Hutto. What effect the coaching shake up will have remains to be seen, but the big news is the move out of 6'10" John Henson. His dad, Big Matt took a new position in Florida.
This robs the Austin area of what I believe would have been the greatest player to ever graduate from the Austin area. A two time Nike All American, and a likely Mickey D's as well, the North Carolina commit was the most dominant shot blocker I have ever coached, and frankly have ever seen in person at the high school level. I'll look forward to seeing him tear up the ACC and then heading to The League after one season with Coach Roy Williams.

Back to the present, the Dragons will depend on senior J.J. Kearns to run the PG spot. Kearns is a solid, hard nosed kid that competes every minute he's on the floor. His summer team mate with the Texas D-1 Ambassadors is 6'7" Dax Hill. Hill is the most talented basketball player in the area, who will NOT be playing college ball next year, despite drawing lots of interest. That's because Hill is a world class swimmer and will give up roundball next year to accept a D-1 swimming scholarship. When I spoke to dax Wednesday night he told me he'd narrowed his choices to Texas, Georgia and Southern Cal.
