Acadiana Prep, LA 67 San Antonio Brackenridge 57

2009 6'7" P William Nelson and 2010 6'2"G Tramel White of Acadiana Prep, LA We're here at the Northside ISD Tournament catching the game between the Acadiana Prep Eagles from Opelousas , Louisiana and the San Antonio Brackenridge Eagles. Brack is consistently one of the best teams in the San Antonio area, and Coach Hooi along with Coach Bogges at Alamo Heights and Stan Leech at Boerne Champion is one of the top coaches in the 4A ranks in this area.

From looking at the pregame, the kids from Louisiana are bigger and more athletic so Brack should have their hands full. The shooting of Lyron Henderson is keeping Brack close. Lanky 2010 Omar Guerrero has 6 for Brack and shows a lot of potential to be a very good player once he puts strength on his frame. He has 10 at the half. Acadiana standouts are Tramel White with 14 and William Nelson with 9.

Halftime Acadiana 35 SA Brackenridge 29

Guerrero has taken the more physical Louisiana kids to the high post and hit two straight soft jumpers and the Brack kids have gone up by 1, 39-38 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Inexplicably the Acadiana Coach David Barham which has the superior athletes took the air out of the ball for the last 2:30 of the 3rd quarter. It may come back to haunt him later. Cordona shows nice poise for a 2011 making shots and several nifty dishes.

Entering the 4th Quarter Brack 44 Acadiana 42

Guerrero has just fouled out with 5 minutes left in the game. We'll see what kind of depth Brack can bring in the post. A monster slam by Acadiana's Big William Nelson has just confirmed this concern. With Guerrero gone in the paint, it's going to be tough sledding for Brack down the stretch. A quick trey ball by Jakial Senegal and it's now 56-52 Acadiana with 3:30 left to play. Nelson has just fouled out with 2 minutes left. It's an 8 point lead for the Louisianans with 1 minute left. It's now all about the free throws. Looks like Coach Barham knows his stuff after all..lol

Acadiana will face off against San Antonio Stevens tonight in one semi final, while San Antonio Clark plays Keller Central in the other bracket.
