Round Rock Westwood HS Boys Preview

Left To Right: 2010 P 6'5" Jeff Reed, 2009 6'2" Garrett Hamilton & 2009 6'5" Alvin Yarborough
In his 3rd season as Head Coach at Round Rock Westwood, Coach Brad Hastings has a scrappy squad that he believes can make some noise in District 16-5A. It's a district with no team who has clearly superior talent to the others, so it should be a dog fight. They'll need to fill the void left behind with the graduation of hardworking combo guard Greg Chiasson who is now at Lon Morris JC.
The front runner for this spot is 2009 Garrett Hamilton who showed vast improvement on the summer circuit with the Texas D-1 Ambassadors. His leadership will be the key to how far the Warriors can go.
Westwood has two 6'5" post players who should also make an impact. Alvin Yarbrough brings athleticism to the table, while 2010 Jeff Reed is a sturdy force as well. Coach Hastings plans to have his crew trapping more often than usual, and as becoming in vogue to do, they'll also run the Memphis penetrate and kick offense. The Warriors have several kids who can knock down shots in this system. The ability to penetrate and then kick will be the key to their success in this system.
