The key to the win was Glen Oaks D, as Coach harvey Adger's squad did a great job of denying and subsequently doubling Istrouma star R.J. McGhee (Below). The 2010 6'5" guard needs a wheel barrow to tote around his D-1 offers. Last night St. Joe's was in the house watching him as he was held to a season low 7 points, way off his 20 point average for the year. McGhee's recruiting is really heating up as the lanky shooter with the picture perfect stroke had UCLA in his gym watching two weeks ago.
Who can forget the great McDonald's All American, Lester Earl from LSU and Kansas? He spent a week back in The Roux and he dropped by his Glen Oaks alma mater to work a little with his nephew 2011 P 6'6" Tre Drye (Below). Uncle Lester must have shown the youngster a thing or two as he notched a game high 13 rebounds including a nasty dunk in traffic. That had to impress Ford as Drye lists Oklahoma State as one of his top choices.
All three of these boys helped lead the Texas D-1 Ambassadors to one of the best summer circuit records in the country, including championships at the Myrtle Beach (SC) Atlantic Slam and the Rivals.com Memorial Day Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. Drye will return this year and be a key to the Louisiana D-1 Ambassadors squad.
