San Antonio Northside Doubleheader

San Antonio Stevens 44  San Antonio Brandeis 41

As the newest school in NISD, Brandeis would be well ahead of schedule with a win tonight and a playoff berth.  They shot out of the gate early, jumping to a 10-3 lead.  The 1st half belonged to Stevens 2012 W 6'6" Marcus Roper who hit three shots from deep to have the game nip and tuck. At the half Brandeis was clinging to a one point lead.

The second half belonged to Sevens' 2012 WG 6'5" Uche Ofoegbu who did a lot of the dirty work on the boards against Brandeis' pair of bigs; 6'8" Senior Sterling Smoak & 2012 P 6'7" Eric Robinson.  Ofoegbu had more bounce in his step and finished the night with 11 points and 11 boards.  For Brandeis their top performer on the night was 2012 F Jeremy Martinez who had 15 points & 7 rebounds.
2012 WG Uche Ofoegbu took Stevens on his back on the defensive end tonight

With the score knotted at 41 and ledd than 2 minutes to play both teams turned the ball over.  Once gain, it was Roper to the rescue as his two key free throws were the difference.  Brandeis could not get a good look at the basket for a tying attempt.  It's loser go home as the seniors' careers ended for Brandeis, while Stevens gets to advance to the playoffs.

San Antonio Warren 101  San Antonio Jay 58
In a game where zero defense was played, the Warren Warriors roared out to 39-12 lead and were never challenged.  2012 F 6'7" Taurean Waller-Prince led the way with his 20th double double of the season.  He finished with 11 points & 10 rebounds.  Coach Weaver gave his star the 2nd half off as they prepare for the playoffs. 2012 WG Jerell Ellis had 14 points to lead Warren in scoring.  I was impressed with 2013 G Joshua Reynolds of Jay.  The young guard finished with 7 points & 4 rebounds as his squad took it on the chin.
2012 F Taurean Waller-Prince is a tough matchup who gets better every time out
Also, a special thanks to Coach Kevin Hamilton longtime Head Coach @ Clark and now an Associate AD/Administrator for Northside ISD for making me feel welcome tonight!
