San Francisco Revives Program With Help of the D1 Nation

Below is the link to a nice story about the University of San Francisco's basketball program.  It was literally dead in recent years and is now being revived by former Kansas Jayhawk star and now Head Coach, Rex Walters.  One of the key reasons for this resurgence is the play of true freshman guard, Cody Doolin of Austin Westlake who is averaging 31 minutes, 7.5ppg, 3.2 rpg, & 3.1 assists.
Doolin's play thus far have him garnering recognition as the WCC's top frosh PG.

San Francisco's education now costs $62,000 annually for room, board and tuition.  It's a great private school education in one of the world's most diverse, exciting cities.  Doolin was widely recruited but the persistence and professional recruiting job done by former USF Assistant was the difference in him landing at the City By The Bay.

Coach Linder has moved on to Boise State University and was back in Austin last week to view his latest CenTex signee, Darrious Hamilton of San Antonio Antonian.  I was scheduled to have dinner with him when our dreaded ice storm hit last week and I didn't feel comfortable driving to Austin with the roads being dicey.  With another Texas D1 Ambassador, Killeen High's Tre Nichols playing PG for the Boise State Broncos, Coach Linder and I have developed a solid, trusting relationship in the highly subjective business of player evaluation.

New San Francisco Assistant, Coach Lee was also in San Antonio last week to view a local player and he was the "victim" of the storm as games in San Antonio were also cancelled that day.  Doolin's great play as a frosh has further cemented my relationship with Coach Rex Walters and his staff so don't be surpised to see another D1 Ambassador heading out to the West Coast Conference in the near future as they've also offered Houston St. Thomas big man, Jeremy King.  The 6'9" King is a shot blocker supreme is athletic and oozes potential.

I feel honored when these coaches ask me to give them information on players in the State of Texas.  The D1 Nation Prep Report is followed on a daily basis by well over 100 Division One college staffs.-Coach Max Ivany
